All PTA Programs

Many programs, events, and opportunities at Ocean Knoll are made possible by the PTA, both by volunteer time and funding. If you are interested in contributing, please let us know!

Art Ed:  School-wide art program. Lessons are taught by parent volunteers.

Back To School Picnic:  “Welcome Back” party to start the new school year with music, fun, games, and food for the whole family.

Book Fair:  Annual Fall and Spring Book Sale to promote reading and to raise important funds for new books in the Media Center.

Box Tops:  Clip “Box Tops” from everyday items to earn $ for Ocean Knoll.

Distinguished Dolphin and IB Attitude Assemblies:  Monthly assemblies honoring character and academic achievements.

Dol-Fun-Day:  End of the year track and field fun day for all grades.

E-Scrip:  Easy money for Ocean Knoll by signing up your Von’s, Visa and Macy’s cards to donate a percentage of purchases to OK.

Garden/Nutrition Science Lab:  Supported by Sage Garden Project and PTA, weekly Garden and Nutrition lessons emphasize science, health, art and fun.

Great American Spell Check:  Spelling Challenge and Spelling Bee for students in grades 1-6 with financial pledges going 100% to Ocean Knoll programs.

Green Team:  Students in 3rd-6th grade may apply for the Green Team for leadership opportunities managing school recycling, composting, garden and community projects.

Holiday Sharing Food Drive:  Thanksgiving food baskets collected and delivered to Ocean Knoll families in need.

International Fest:  Spring Carnival with games, Mexican food, and music.

Jog-A-Thon:  A fun and healthy fundraiser.  Students get sponsors and collect pledges for laps run on the day of the Jog-A-Thon.

Kindergarten First Day Pictures:  Keepsake photo taken by OK parent and professional photographer Kristy Ambrogio on first day of kindergarten.

Math 24:  Students in 3rd-6th grade hone their math and logic skills practicing at lunch recess during the year to prepare for the district Math 24 tournament in May.

Music Instruction:  PTA supports weekly music instruction, including time on guitars and digital keyboards.

Pledge Drive:  Annual Fund Drive for support of programs including instruction in Art Ed, Music, PE, and Reading Counts.

Reading Counts:  A motivational reading program where students earn points for taking quizzes on books read independently.  Milestone point awards given at assemblies.

Red Ribbon Week:  An early intervention program to create awareness of healthy living choices and the dangers of drugs.  Age appropriate activities conducted all week.

Reflections Art Program:  Art contest using photography, music, video, literature, drawing, or painting.  Theme for 2013:  Believe, Dream, Inspire.

Restaurant Nights:  Ocean Knoll families get together at local restaurants with a percentage of the proceeds going back to the school.

Robotics:  Students in 4th-6th grade hone their engineering, critical thinking and technology skills while building robotic Legos.

Sixth Grade Camp:  6th graders go to sleep away camp for a week in the spring.  PTA supports scholarships for campers where needed.

Spanish Instruction:  Spanish lessons are provided to all grades 2 times a week, thanks  to PTA support.

Spirit Wear:  Show your Dolphin pride with Ocean Knoll t-shirts, sweatshirts and hats.  (Car magnets and beach towels too!).

Spring Auction:  A fun evening out for parents with dancing, food, drinks, and silent and live auctions.  Proceeds go directly to Ocean Knoll programs.

Staff Appreciation Week:  During a special week in May, we show our heartfelt thanks to our teachers and staff members.

Student Directory:  A free handy directory of Ocean Knoll students and staff.  This year, the directory will also include Ocean Knoll businesses that choose to advertise.

Teacher Mini-Grants:  Teachers receive money directly from the PTA for classroom materials and equipment.

Variety Show:  Our variety show is a homegrown and student-led showcase of creativity.

Wellness Program:  Our students are fired up on fitness!  7:30 AM Run/Walk the Track Mon-Fri, Yoga on Tuesdays (English) and Thursdays (Spanish).

Yearbook:  A wonderful compilation of the school year is available for purchase in the spring.
